Monica incisa was born in Rome and moved to New York in 1980, where she published her drawings in "The New York Times", "Rolling Stone", "House and Garden", "The Nation", "Vogue" and "The New York Review of Books". Back in Rome a decade later, she published her illustrations in the culture pages of "Il Messaggero" and "La Repubblica" and she produced animations for television and numerous children books, both in English and in italian. For many years now she has been drawing and using fragments of her photographs to create collages on paper.
