In Scena! is Italian for “on stage!” In 2014, the festival expanded to feature seven full productions and four readings, all bilingual. This 15-day festival will offer 7 fully-staged productions from Italy, special events, readings, among other events and activities. All are presented in Italian and English or with English supertitles, curated by Kairos Italy Theater. This edition of IN SCENA! features shows about true stories of immigration (to and from Italy), the aftermath of WWII, discrimination of LGTB people under the Nazi regime, among others. These are our 2017 full productions: Sweet Home Albania, Der Puff, The Invention With No Future, My IdeaMemory of Joe Zangara, Riccardo and Lucia, Rock Oedipus, Ten – Dieci. In Scena! Festival was inaugurated in 2013 as an official event of 2013 Year of Italian Culture in the USA, under the auspices of the President of the Italian Republic with the Patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C. Events were mounted in all five boroughs and included three full productions that were US premieres, three special events and four staged readings, all playing to full houses.
