Alarm at the UN: Covid-19 Ravages the World and Deepens World Hunger

In a virtual message-debate Guterres declared that the pandemic could cause approximately 49 million people to fall below the poverty line, thereby worsening their food security. But all is not lost if we act swiftly: “Countries need to scale up support for food processing, transport and local food markets, and they must keep trade corridors open to ensure the continuous functioning of food systems.”
